3 New Ways Plex Is Making Its UI Easier to Navigate

Plex is a great service. With support for an antenna and a DVR tuner (and its partnership with Crackle), Plex claims to give you the ability to stream more content than you can stream on Netflix, as long as you don’t mind watching ads. Are.

In the February 2022 Update, Plex has made three significant changes to its user interface for easier navigation. Here’s what you need to know.

Three major changes to the Plex UI

In a post on the Plex blog, Plex outlined three changes being made to the Plex UI.

However, you should note that this update is only available for the Plex large screen apps at the time of writing. The mobile and web Plex apps will receive it at a later date.

1. Integrated Local TV & Plex TV Guide

Plex has merged its channel guides into a single guide. Thus, Local Live TV and Plex Live TV are now under two different tabs but on the same screen.

This means that if you’re using an antenna with your Plex server, you won’t have to wade through a mix of movies, TV shows, and live TV to find what you’re looking for. Just hit the tab you need.

2. A Favorites Tab

Sometimes the solution creates a new problem. So, well, it’s great to have all your channels in one place and split them into different tabs.

But with all the content Plex has to offer, things can still get crowded out there. Thus, to combat the problem Plex has added a Favorites tab.

Favorites will enable you to go straight to what you really want to watch. Also, you can arrange the order of your favorite channels.

3. Genre Filter

If you’re not sure what you want to watch, you can now browse Plex by genre. Now you have the freedom to choose from a selection of shows in your favorite genre, be it action, horror, romance or anything else.

Plex iterates with its users

In 2021, Plex began a collaboration with its users to update its user interface. This eventually leads to what is called a “modern” layout, which adds new information (metadata) when a movie or TV show poster is in focus: genres, parental ratings, and a brief summary of the title without having to click first.

This February 2022 iteration takes all the available information on Plex content and organizes it. You can also browse the metadata yourself. As a result, whether you’re looking to rewatch an old show or check out something new, you can now find what you want to watch quickly, with fewer clicks.
