Valve Wants Xbox Game Pass on Steam, but Will Microsoft Play Ball
Xbox Game Pass is an amazing deal whether you’re a console or PC gamer, but it’s still absent from Steam, the world’s largest PC store. Luckily, the owners of Steam, Valve, recently said it was more than happy to welcome Microsoft’s “Netflix of gaming” to its storefront.
A possible new home for Xbox Game Pass
News dropped on PC Gamer about the possibility of a “Steam Pass,” a theoretical monthly fee that gave people access to a wide range of Steam games. Valve’s boss, Gabe Newell, doesn’t feel like he’ll be introducing such a pass in the future, but is more than happy to allow the current plans on Steam.
This is by no means a confirmation that something is in the works, but at the very least, it’s an encouraging sign that Newell is ready to make Xbox Game Pass on Steam a reality.
Xbox Game Pass on Steam: Not as weird as you might think
When gamers think of Steam, they usually picture a storefront rather than a subscription service. However, Steam is no stranger to allowing third parties to host their Game Passes on the platform, and has even implemented its own system to handle the process.
For example, you can subscribe to the EA Play service through Steam, which allows you to download and play included games on Valve’s platform. So, the idea of a subscription service on Steam isn’t new by any means; This is already a reality.
But what about Microsoft’s desire to bring Xbox Game Pass to Steam? As it turns out, the company may have no problem with that. Eventually, Microsoft has expressed interest in bringing Xbox Game Pass to the Switch, stating that the only thing stopping it from doing so was Nintendo’s desire.
As such, with Valve leaving the door open for Microsoft, it may not be long until Xbox Game Pass makes its debut on Steam.
Microsoft Now has a pass of its own
Given how much value for money Xbox Game Pass is, it’s a small wonder it hasn’t already arrived on Steam. However, with the head of Valve giving Microsoft the green light, it may be just what Microsoft needs to get its popular subscription service on the biggest PC gaming storefront in history.
If you’re a big console or PC gamer, it might be worth buying Xbox Game Pass. It’s a digital subscription service that gives you access to an ever-expanding catalog of over 250 games, as well as exclusive discounts and deals.
You can buy Xbox Game Pass for console and PC. There’s also a subscription tier called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate that supports Android phones and tablets from the cloud.
We’re going to explain everything you need to know about Xbox Game Pass, including what games you get and how much it costs.
Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers access to over 250 games, and the library is constantly changing. You simply pay a monthly fee and can play as many games as you want until your subscription expires, or the game leaves the library.
Electronic Arts has its own game subscription service called EA Play. This gives you unlimited access to some of the company’s most loved games such as The Sims 4 and Star Wars: Squadrons.
You also get early access to select new EA releases for up to 10 hours of play time, plus 10% off if you decide to buy the full game.
EA Play is included in your Ultimate subscription to PC and Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost. If you don’t want the other benefits of Xbox Game Pass, it’s also available separately directly from EA.
